Winterton Village

Winterton-on-Sea is an ancient fishing village 8 miles North of Great Yarmouth. It is completely uncommercialised and has a wide sweeping, sandy beach where seals make regular appearances. Adjacent to the beach is an extensive nature reserve and dunes - ideal for bird watchers and walkers.

The imposing, flint, parish church, dating from the 15th century has the third highest tower in Norfolk, and many fine features including a memorial fisherman's corner.

The Norfolk Broads waterways and national park, offering fishing, boating, sailing and nature reserves are a few minutes drive, the resort of Great Yarmouth is 8 miles South and the fine medieval city of Norwich is 19 miles West.

Many historic houses, splendid gardens, windmills and thatched churches are a short drive. A beautiful sandy beach and pub serving good food, a short stroll away, or a variety of pubs and restaurants a few minutes drive.

Winterton-on-Sea was the 2003 winner of the "Anglia in Bloom", "Village of the Year" and "Village Green" awards, and has been chosen to represent the "Anglia Area" in the "Britain in Bloom" competition in 2005.
